Sam’s Thoughts…

1. What were your initial expectations and driving forces when you began Personal Training?

Initially, my main driving force was the desire to reclaim control over my health and wellbeing. I had struggled with weight issues for quite some time, and I knew I needed a structured approach to achieve my fitness goals. My expectations were to not only shed excess weight but also to improve my overall strength, endurance, and confidence. I envisioned personal training as a transformative journey that would empower me to become the best version of myself physically and mentally.

2. Were there any reservations or uncertainties you had before embarking on your journey?

Absolutely, there were reservations. Like many others, I was apprehensive about whether I could commit to the demands of a rigorous training program and stick to a disciplined lifestyle change. However, I recognised that staying stagnant was not an option, and I was willing to push past my uncertainties to pursue a healthier future.

3. Describe your typical lifestyle and dietary habits prior to starting?

Before starting my personal training journey, my lifestyle was quite sedentary, revolving around long hours at the office and unhealthy eating habits. Fast food and processed snacks were staples in my diet, and physical activity was virtually non-existent. I lacked energy, felt sluggish, and struggled with self-esteem issues due to my weight.

4. How have your dietary choices and lifestyle evolved since then?

Since embarking on my personal training journey, my dietary choices and lifestyle have undergone a complete transformation. I've adopted a balanced approach to nutrition, focusing on whole foods, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables while minimizing processed foods and sugary snacks. Meal prepping and mindful eating have become integral parts of my routine, ensuring that I nourish my body with the nutrients it needs to thrive. Additionally, I've incorporated regular exercise into my daily life, prioritising strength training, cardio, and flexibility workouts to maintain my newfound fitness level.

5. Which particular habit proved most challenging to overcome during this process?

One of the most challenging habits to overcome was my tendency to indulge in emotional eating and mindless snacking, especially during stressful periods. Learning to differentiate between true hunger and emotional triggers was a significant hurdle, but with the guidance and support of my coach, I developed healthier coping mechanisms and established a more positive relationship with food.

6. What valuable insights have you gained through your collaboration with your coach?

Working with my coach has been invaluable in helping me realise that fitness is not just about physical transformation—it's about mindset, discipline, and self-discovery. I've learned the importance of setting realistic goals, celebrating small victories, and embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth. My coach has also taught me the significance of consistency, perseverance, and self-care in achieving sustainable results and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
